Great North Bags
Great North Bags was founded more than 10 years ago in a small room on a big machine!
As a way to provide for her family she sat at her industrial machine with a few scraps of canvas, and a vision. And the first Great North Bag was born, a canvas box bag, and then swags and bedrolls! From there the business has grown into a range of travel bags and coolerbags in the local material Chitenge and Canvas.
If it doesn't say GREAT NORTH on it, its not our bag.
The Makers
Hi! My name is Hope Sherriff. I took over the Bag business from my mother in-law Dawn, and have been designing and running the bags for a few years now. I grew up in Mbala, Zambia and after dabbling in hospitality for a year and a half and moving to Serenje to be with the love of my life. I decided I wanted to embrace a more creative life, and started managing the Great North Bags. I took over from Dawn and now live in Mkushi with my Farmer Husband, and little girl. I run the bags from a little studio off our Farm House.
